The Sacramento Business Services Center, a subsidiary of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, maintains as one of its core values, the need to provide financial support through scholarships for qualified students in the Sacramento region. Since its inception the SHCC has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to first and second year college students through the Mayor Joe Serna, Jr. Scholarship program.
In honor of our esteemed friend, and late Mayor Joe Serna Jr., our scholarship program is available to assist students to further their education. In order to qualify for a scholarship; student must be majoring in studies leading to a degree in business, computer science, engineering, health services, or vocational programs leading to a professional career. Students must also be of Hispanic Heritage.
The Mayor Joe Serna Jr. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis. Students graduating from high school and residing in Sacramento or in surrounding areas are eligible to apply. Applicants must apply for enrollment in an accredited college for the 2014-2015 academic year and must be enrolled in twelve units per semester/quarter.
The Scholarship recipient is responsible for ensuring that the college provides the SHCC with proof of enrollment in order to receive their funds.
